Whose foot fragment found on Everest a hundred years ago?

Image
A group of climbers were on Mount Everest last month filming a documentary for the US television network National Geographic. A member of the team suddenly stumbles upon a frozen shoe. The shoe came out of the melting ice of the glacier. The shoe is believed to belong to British mountaineer Andrew Comyn ‘Sandy’ Irvine. Hundred years ago in June 1924, he went missing with his companion George Mallory while climbing the summit of Everest. Since then, Irvin’s family has been waiting for news. The shoe seems to have put an end to that.  The clue to the shoe may be the solution to one of the greatest mysteries in the world history of mountaineering. In 1953, Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay climbed the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest. But the question of whether Irvin and Mallory were able to reach the top of Everest 29 years earlier, can be answered by the clues of the shoe. The 100 year old shoe National Geographic’s documentary filmmaking team was led by renowned mounta...

Wearable AI: will it put our smartphones out of fashion?

Image
I magine it: you’re on the bus or walking in the park, when you remember some important task has slipped your mind. You were meant to send an email, catch up on a meeting, or arrange to grab lunch with a friend. Without missing a beat, you simply say aloud what you’ve forgotten and the small device that’s pinned to your chest, or resting on the bridge of your nose, sends the message, summarises the meeting, or pings your buddy a lunch invitation. The work has been taken care of, without you ever having to prod the screen of your smartphone. It’s the sort of utopian convenience that a growing wave of tech companies are hoping to realise through artificial intelligence. Generative AI chatbots such as  ChatGPT  exploded in popularity last year, as search engines like Google, messaging apps such as Slack and social media services like Snapchat raced to integrate the tech into their systems. Yet while AI add-ons have become a familiar sight across apps and software, the sa...

BANGLADESH’S 54 YEARS OF INDEPENDENCE

Image
Today is the Independence Day. The greatest achievement of the Bengali nation is the independence of Bangladesh. The Bengali nation, which had been struggling for thousands of years, broke the chain of subjugation and achieved the desired independence on March 26, 1971. Bangladesh has completed 54 years of independence. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared the independence of Bangladesh on March 26, 1971. After the sun of Bengal's independence set in the wilderness of Plassey in 1757, the people of the Indian subcontinent were liberated in 1947 from the exploitation and oppression of British colonial rule for 190 long years. The birth of Pakistan, which divided India on the basis of religion, was a geographical separation of a thousand miles from East Bengal. Not only this, there was no similarity between the language and culture of the Bengalis and the Pakistanis. Despite this, East Bengal was annexed to Pakistan by capitalizing on religious fanaticis...

25th MARCH! National Genocide Day

Image
It's March 25th today. Day of the Massacre. At the end of this day in 1971, a terrible night had fallen in the life of the Bengali nation. At midnight, in accordance with the blueprint of their pre-planned Operation Searchlight, the barbaric Pakistani invading forces pounced on the unarmed Bengalis all over the country, including the capital Dhaka, with the despicable aim of silencing the voice of the Bengali nation forever. Many innocent people were massacred. On the night of March 25, the Pakistani invading forces started massacres in an attempt to wipe out the freedom aspirations of the Bangalees. Then came the nine-month armed war for Bangladesh's independence. Operation Searchlight was the armed campaign launched by the Pakistani military to wipe out the Bengali nation by mass killing on the night of 25 March. The operation was led by Major General Khadim Hussain Raja and Major General Rao Farman Ali. There are no written instructions.             ...

Why does it start o...
